Well a visit to Texas wouldn't be complete without a visit to Nac!! And we can't forgo the yearly tradition of taking pictures in the pumpkin patch!! Pretty sure we went a little overboard and our photo session lasted about an hour. Here's the best group pic of the three of us:
and this one might be my favorite:
It sure is amazing how far one hour and 2 cameras can go to amuse the three of us. Oh how I love nac and the pumpkin patch!! :)

YAY for...
- Coming back to Texas this week! I'm flying back in on Friday and sweet Sarah is picking me up and we're going to have lunch and then we're meeting the madre in Ft. Worth. I think I'll be making it down to Nac on Monday and staying till Wednesday...
- COLD WEATHER! I got off work this morning and was welcomed by a slight chill! And there actually wasn't any humidity! What a rare occasion!
- Being back in the ED! I love it!! Tonight we found some blonde jokes...here is my fav:
- There were two blondes having lunch and one said to the other: "Which do you think is farther, the moon or Florida?" The other blonde said, "Helllllllooooooo... can you see Florida?"

SOLD!
Well, tonight's my last night of freedom. And what am I doing? Cooking dinner for my cousin and we're going to be watching greys! Oh and maybe going to the ER with Whitney...she's been having a lot of chest pain and couldn't sleep yesterday. We shall see...
I'm thinking about taking art classes at this local art gallery. It isn't too expensive and all the supplies are included. hmmm
We sold the Altima! Yep to this nursing major girl...Thought that was a little ironic! Anyway, glad for that to be gone!!
Working this week means I'm that much closer to coming to texas to see fam and friends! Oh how happy I will be to see my people! What ever are we going to do? :)

projects and pictures
It's official...I'm an Alabama resident! I finally had the time to go get my license this week. (Looks kinda like a mug shot! haha) I was kinda upset that they punched holes in my TX license. oh well. Special thanks to Katie, for bringing it to my attention that it was bad to post a license online. The pic has been taken down. :)
I thought I'd share with y'all what I've been doing with my free time...My gma found a coffee table and a side table at a garage sale and snatched them for us. I did the "shabby chic" to them and here are the pics:This is actually the side table, but the entertainment center thing is outside getting work done. I want it to look like the coffee and side tables so that they at least match. That one is a little more complex. Here is a pic of the detail and will give you a better pic of the coffee table.
All I did was paint the tables white and then use sandpaper to scrape off parts of the white so the dark brown would show through. The style is "shabby chic" but I prefer to call it "cheap chic" total cost in all three pieces is under $30. yep. pretty cheap. The fun balls on that plate smell like vanilla and are super cute! Found at the best place ever...target!
I don't know what I'm going to do with my spare time when I finish the other piece...I will be needing a new project! I'll put up a pic of the entertainment center when I'm done with it, y'all that came to AL aren't going to recognize it!!!
Well I'm waiting on the charter guy to show up to install our DVR. We're too poor for TiVo, so this is the next best! Can't wait till we figure it out and know how to use it! I'm certain it will take me longer than my roomies!! I'm seriously technologically slow...

prime rib or ground chuck?
Perfect example of a singles ministry as a meat market................
So, you know, I've been trying to get involved at this church I've been going to. Last sunday we go over to a guy's apt to watch a movie, like 5-6 of us. Well, he gets my # to call me and let me know the happenings of the group. (Keep in mind this character is a ripe 29 year old and I'm 22.) He texts me throughout the week being friendly asking if my week is going good and all which I appreciate...Well tonight he calls to see if I want to "hang out sometime". Being prepared for this, I responded with a "yeah, sure! What's everyone doing this week?" Then I proceeded to talk about my "busy" week (yeah right, I'm not even working til Friday) and how I don't think I have time. And since I'm not the best at getting off the phone with people I don't really want to talk to...the convo lasted WAYYY too long.
I'm just frustrated cause I don't want to jump into a singles group and date someone! I just want to get to know everyone and be friends! Plus I don't want any bad looks from the girls or to be the subject of the latest sunday school gossip! Grrr...I hate pressure of being in a singles group...
Sorry, just wanted to vent..
Oh and Paul, your comment made things so much more clear to me and put it into perspective. Thanks!

pizza, parties, and people
Last night was my last time to work in special care. Now I have off til Friday night, where I will begin my adventure working in the ER. I am super excited about switching, but think I will miss the girls upstairs. Last night they through me a going away party! Isn't that sweet? And of course it had to be a pizza party. If you know me, you know I don't like pizza, it kinda makes me sick. But I ate it anyway, they didn't know and it was a nice gesture!
My great grandaddy had his 103rd bday party tonight! He is an amazing man that is still with it! He could sit with you and tell you stories about integration, downtown bham during those days, and told me a story about his mother and how she was a nurse! He actually helped the blacks with integration and was hated for this in his time. This is a man that helped change the course of Birmingham! I am glad I've been blessed to know him and hope I can be as giving as he has been! Anyway, my cousin and I took a bazillion pics, so I'll probably put one or two up...
The Oak Mountain Singles ministry is growing on me. The cook-out last Sunday was sufficiently awkward at moments, but fun too! I find it strange that the guys are more conversational than the girls...aren't girls by nature more talkative? I guess the guys are the more outreachy ones in this bunch. I've decided I'm going to give them a couple more months and the decide where to go from there. All my family goes to another church, and they have a huge medical missions ministry, so I'll go there next...
Since I've been working nights, I've had plenty of time to read books! I read (in only 5 days!!!) the book, gods in Alabama this week cause Whit heard it was a good book. It was okay, I wouldn't recommend actually buying it..not that great. I liked the overall theme and it was humorous, but some details it gives-the book could survive without.
I'm trying to sell my altima, anyone want it? Yes, I know, I've had the CRV for awhile...I've just been putting off cleaning the altima up and getting it ready to go. But Thursday, it went up with a for sale sign on it and my gparents have had several calls. I hope someone wants it, SOON! I kinda need some money!!
Well, I took a tylenol pm earlier and I think it's starting to kick in! Better get to sleep!

note: the following will be most random thoughts!
so one of my neighbors has asked us a couple times to feed her cat when she goes out of town. being the nice friendly people we are, my roommates and I say yes and for feeding her cat the first time, she brought us an amazing chocolate pie from her mother's bakery. well this time, we found waiting for us a 4-layer caramel cake on our table when we got home. of course I've tried it and will rate it a 6. I can't eat the whole thing, it's a bit rich, but still alright.
moving to a new town has proved to be more of an adventure than I thought. my adjustment to college went so well, I guess I assumed the same this time. well you know what happens when you assume...
I've visited several churches and found one I really like has teaching that is based on scripture, I like the doctrine and theology. the only problem is I don't really feel that welcome. It's been difficult to find a place where the worship and the fellowship are equally present. I honestly feel that in this part of my life, I need more fellowship...being new to a city and not having established a group of godly friends, and all. don't get me wrong, I've made my attempts, going to the singles sunday school class and all... being odd girl out has made me reflect on how welcoming I was while in college...was I the girl that smiled an "I don't know you, but hi" smile, the one that took you under her wing, or the one that blew you off after church after being friendly. I came to the decision that I have been all, and how much it SUCKS when it happens.
today, for instance, I sat with a girl that's also new to b'ham, but has been going to this church a little longer than me. after talking it up that "everyone goes out to eat after church", I was completely blown off when someone asked her to go to lunch with them. I was like, wow, that sucked. she did, however, promise to call me about the guys' flag football game today and if I wanted to go to the cook-out they were having tonight. the football game was a no go, but I will be leaving here shortly to go to the grocery store to pick up some tea to bring tonight.
on a cheery note, I will be coming to texas oct 26- nov 1. I want to make a trip down to nac, but will have to see about borrowing my mom's car and balancing spending time in granbury and nac. will keep y'all posted on that!
...well I'm off to hopefully break the unfriendliness I've been surrounded in...

the characters

this pic was taken on july 4th. these people I might talk about are my roommates, deanna and whitney. just for future reference, that way you can put a name to a face.
I don't do throw-up, I don't do explosive poop, and I don't like this unit I'm working on cause I have to deal with those on a daily basis. I'm ready to get back to the emergency dept and save all the poop for the nurses upstairs.
I've realized lately I'm not that deep of a person. I'm doing a theology bible study at the church I've been going to, and I'm really loving it! it's challenging and hard to work through. I would go into more detail, but I must get in the shower before heading to deal with vomit, poop, but get to feed little 2 week old babies and rock the sweet things to sleep.
